THE FREEDOM HILL FILM SCHOOL is a charitable arts education organization that strives to lay the foundation for how Southern history and experiences are archived and documented. Our program offers tuition-free, workforce training for youth in low-income, rural, Southern cities via a 4-week, paid film program and fellowship in Eastern, North Carolina.

THE FREEDOM HILL FILM SCHOOL is responsible for creating documentary film and media that can be utilized as tools for the movement toward liberation for all, advocating for more holistic communities utilizing art and film as the driving force.

Shortly after premiering her debut film, Freedom Hill, at the 2022 Full Frame Documentary Festival in Durham, NC, Resita hosted the inaugural youth media camp in Princeville with no major funders and despite, paid all of her students up to $1,000 for their participation. The program was initially meant to run for one summer, but students expressed the impact the camp had on their lives and Resita committed to make it an annual program. In 2023, she added the Fellowship, which invites returning students to take a deeper dive into filmmaking, culminating in individual films and pitches.

The Freedom Hill Film School, formerly The Freedom Hill Youth Media Camp, is entering its 5th season in 2026.
